Recently, I had the pleasure of photographing Tegan and her husband Dougald as they prepare to welcome their first child. The location they chose, an open field in North Lakes, couldn’t have been more perfect for their maternity photos.
As I walked through the field, with fluffy grass swaying in the gentle breeze and a clear blue sky overhead, I felt an immediate sense of calm and beauty. This picturesque setting set the tone for the entire session. Tegan and Dougald arrived full of love, excitement, and a clear sense of connection, all of which were reflected in their maternity photos.
We began the session with Tegan wearing a beige tulle robe. The sunlight filtered through the trees, casting a golden glow that surrounded her like a halo. As I snapped away, you could feel the moment of reflection shared between her and Dougald. This maternity photography session wasn’t just about the photos—it was about the moments of connection and celebration of the journey they are on together.
Next, Tegan changed into a delicate white Eumundi lace robe, and we moved to a spot where the tall grass danced in the breeze. The atmosphere was magical. The two of them shared sweet moments, walking hand in hand, gazing into each other’s eyes. As a maternity photographer, capturing such tender exchanges is what makes these sessions so meaningful.
The last outfit was the stunning Golden Glitter Voile dress, which truly came alive as the setting sun bathed Tegan in warm light. She looked absolutely mesmerizing, and Dougald couldn’t take his eyes off her. They laughed, embraced, and enjoyed the moment together, the joy and love they share for their soon-to-arrive baby radiating in every shot. It’s clear that whether a boy or girl, their little one is already so loved.
Maternity photos are a beautiful way to remember this special chapter of life, and I’m so grateful to have been a part of capturing these moments for Tegan and Dougald. I can’t wait to see them again, this time as a family of three.
