Before the frosting starts flying, we like to ease into the session with some milestone portraits. This is such a special time to capture your child’s personality as it truly begins to shine. Next up, the part everyone’s been waiting for—the cake smash! Our clients choose the perfect backdrop ahead of time, and once that cake is in place, it’s showtime. Some little ones dive in with full force, while others approach the frosting with the precision of a mini food critic. Either way, the results are always hilarious, adorable, and 100% photo-worthy.
Being a North Brisbane photographer, I’ve seen just about every cake smash personality there is—from the icing-shy to the icing-obsessed—and I love how each session tells a slightly different story. These are the kinds of memories that deserve to be frozen in time.
Bubbles, Ducks, and Bath-Time Giggles
Once the cake is conquered and the little one is sufficiently covered in icing, it’s time to clean up—but make it cute. We wrap up our cake smash sessions with a sweet little bubble bath in our vintage-inspired white clawfoot tub. Add some rubber ducks, a few splashy giggles, and the results are pure magic.
This final part of the session is always a favourite, and not just because it makes the car ride home a lot cleaner! It’s a great way to end on a high note, with fresh smiles and playful energy that really show off your child’s personality.
