Welcoming a New Little Sister: A Beautiful Newborn Photography Session at Lavender Lane Photography

Recently, I had the pleasure of working with Lisa and Benjamin once again. I first met this wonderful couple a few years back when I photographed their son, Declan, during his own newborn photography session. It feels like just yesterday that I was positioning him in those sweet, cozy poses as a tiny baby boy. Now, Lisa and Benjamin have returned to the studio with their newest addition—an adorable baby girl—and I was thrilled to help them document this exciting new chapter.
In the Studio: Capturing Precious Moments
The in-studio newborn photo session took place right here at Lavender Lane Photography, where we have everything needed to ensure a relaxed and stress-free experience. I’ve carefully designed the studio environment to be warm, soothing, and comfortable for both parents and baby. My goal, as a newborn photographer, is to create a space where your little one can feel safe and secure, making it easier to capture those peaceful, dreamy poses that are so beloved in newborn photography.
Beanbag Poses, Parent Poses & Sibling Shots
We began the newborn photography session with classic beanbag poses, using soft blankets and delicate headbands to accentuate the baby girl’s natural beauty. I love how these simple setups highlight her tiny fingers, perfect eyelashes, and the sweet curl of her lips. After the beanbag portion, we moved on to parent poses—some of my favorite moments to capture. The look on Lisa’s face as she cradled her daughter, and the gentle pride in Benjamin’s eyes as he held them both, created some truly stunning newborn photos.
Of course, we couldn’t forget big brother Declan! He was excited to have his turn in front of the camera, gently snuggling next to his new baby sister. Sibling poses are always delightful, and it warms my heart to see the sweet bond that’s already forming between them. The family portraits from this session are sure to become cherished keepsakes, reminding them just how tiny and loved their baby girl was from the very start.
Props & Personal Touches
As a newborn photographer, I believe in the power of subtle, meaningful props to enhance the overall look and feel of the session. For this particular shoot, I incorporated soft fabrics, floral accents, and neutral-toned wraps that complemented the studio’s serene ambiance.
