At Lavender Lane Photography, we love celebrating this once-in-a-lifetime milestone with our signature Cake Smash sessions, photographed right here in our North Brisbane studio in Chermside West. And yes—there’s plenty of cake, plenty of bubbles, and plenty of unforgettable moments.
The Calm Before the (Cake) Storm
Before things get sticky, we start with some milestone portraits. This part of the session is all about your baby—capturing their expressions, their growing confidence, and every tiny detail that’s changed in their first year.
Set against our clean white feature wall, it’s a timeless way to remember just how far they’ve come. Our Brisbane clients often tell us these simple portraits become their most cherished keepsakes.
And Then… We Smash
Once we’ve got those sweet, clean portraits taken care of, it’s time to bring out the cake and let your little one take the lead. With your chosen background in place and the camera ready, we capture every wide-eyed reaction, frosting-covered smile, and curious poke at the icing.
Some babies go all in. Others are more cautious. Either way, it’s always a treat to watch. Over the years, families from all over Brisbane have trusted us to capture this special kind of chaos—and we’ve loved every second of it.
From Frosting to Bubbles
After the cake has had its moment (and probably ended up in a few unexpected places), we finish off with a warm bubble bath in our adorable clawfoot tub. Add a handful of rubber ducks and some gentle splashing, and you’ve got the recipe for some truly cute and candid final images.
This part of the session always brings out the biggest smiles. Babies relax, parents breathe a sigh of relief, and we get those squeaky-clean, joy-filled photos that round off the story perfectly.
